FLPFI LAUNCHES LOSS PREVENTION IN THERMAL POWER PLANTS REPORT

12th March 2019

The white paper is aimed at raising awareness of the potential risks in the operation of thermal power plants along with the risk management needed to ensure that plants are more resilient.

The Fire Loss Prevention Forum of India is a not-for-profit organisation that has been formed to provide a knowledge sharing platform to discuss and promote robust loss prevention practices and solutions against fire and explosions.

Fire impacts on many levels. It affects people, property and the environment. Fire doesn’tdiscriminate. It doesn’t recognise geographical boundaries or different type of building. Fire losses can be extensive, causing death, widespread damage to property and contents and significant impacts on the environment. More often, fires may cause a single casualty or affect a single property, though the effects are still highly significant to those affected and collectively are substantial.

The white paper will be sent to the Ministry of Power, Government of India to spread the information and knowledge about the best practices to be followed in thermal power plants for loss prevention among the power sector in the country.
